Joint Announcement & Awarding Ceremony DIPI – Newton Fund
The Indonesian Science Fund (DIPI) and UK Newton Fund announced today 11 jointly-funded research collaborations working on Indonesia priorities, ranging from dengue and tuberculosis to peat land and forest fires.
Based on reviews and recommendations by Indonesian, UK and international scientists, DIPI together with the UK Medical Research Council and Research Councils UK selected the eleven best project proposals from around 50 submissions. All the project proposals were developed jointly by researchers from a range of universities and research organizations such as Universitas Indonesia, ITB, UGM from Indonesia and University of Cambridge, University of Manchester, University of Nottingham and several others from the UK.
DIPI — supported by funding from the Ministry of Finance’s Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) — and the British Government’s Newton Fund have put together a total budget of around £5.5 million (Rp 99 billion) to jointly fund these new research collaborations for the next 2 to 3 years.
